Frequently Asked Questions:
Who is eligible?
Students registered in a minimum of twelve (12) units at Cabrillo College, have a 3.0 GPA to qualify, and in both financial and judicial “good standing” (as determined by Cabrillo College Dean of Student Services), may request housing at the UCSC University Inn.

How do I request a space at the Inn?
Begin the process by contacting the Dean of Students Office at Cabrillo College to fill out an interest form.  The Dean of Students will verify you meet the eligibility requirements and inform the University Inn of your interest.

How many spaces are available?
A limited number of spaces are available (number to be determined).  If you are interested, please apply with the Dean of Students Office at Cabrillo College and the University Inn Residential Manager will then contact you regarding your request for housing.

Who is around if I need assistance?
The University Inn has a Residential Manager and four Residential Advisors who all live on site at the Inn.  There is also a Community Safety Office from the University who patrols the facility in the evenings.  The front desk staff is available for questions 24 hours a day.

Is housing available during the summer?
We do not host any students over the summer.  The entire facility is a hotel and conference center during the summer.

Is a meal plan included in the housing contract?
A meal plan is included for all residents at the University Inn.  You will have a choice of 3 different meal plan options.  We offer breakfast, lunch and dinner every weekday, and brunch and dinner on weekends.  There is also a café set up for grab and go items.

Do you have kitchens?
We do not have kitchens in the rooms.  We do allow students to have a mini fridge and a microwave in their room, but cooking equipment with exposed heating elements (e.g. hot plates, toasters) are not allowed.

Is there a laundry facility?
Yes.  We have coin-operated laundry on the 2nd floor.

Do the rooms have internet access?
Yes.  We have 2 Ethernet jacks in each of the rooms.  We do not have wireless service in the rooms but we do have it in our lobby area and Sunset Room (the dining and lounge area).

How do I pay for my housing?
You will have a UCSC billing account and will receive a billing statement of all charges due.  Housing charges must be paid to UCSC. You may not pay your housing at Cabrillo College.

Is financial aid available to assist me with housing costs?
Contact the Cabrillo College Financial Aid Office for questions regarding financial aid.

Where can I receive my mail?
Unfortunately, we are not equipped to handle your mail.  There are several places where you can rent a Post Office Box for a minimal fee, including the local post office.

Is there parking available for students?
A limited number of parking spaces are available.  Parking permits are issued by lottery and there is a charge of $25 per month for a permit.
