To Post a Rental Property:

Before Posting
Before posting a rental on our web site review our office's Guiding Principles (PDF). For the best compatibility with our system use Internet Explorer.
Instructions for First Time Users
- Submit an application for a password. Click the link above to enter the program.
- Next, click "Post New Rental" on the left side. The link to request a password is below the password box. Fill out the request information and submit.
- Our office reviews all password requests. Please be patient. It may take a few hours for our staff to respond and e-mail your password. Passwords are sent Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm. (We are closed on weekends and holidays - view campus calendar)
- Once you have received your password, follow the next steps.
Instructions for Posting your Rental
- Enter the Rental Listings web site above.
- Click on “Post New Rental”. Enter password & click “Submit”
- Fill out the form. The unit type, number of bedrooms/baths, amenities, general location, and address cannot be modified after the posting is submitted..
- To review before submitting, click “Continue to Step 2”. Then, to make corrections click on “Correct”.
- When finished, click on “Continue to Step 3”. You will immediately receive a listing code. Keep that number to access the posting to modify or delete it later.
- If you accidentally submit a listing with incorrect information, you will have to delete your listing and begin again.
- Your listing will be posted after the Community Rentals staff has reviewed it. It will remain posted for 30 days unless you delete or renew it sooner.
Tips for Using the Housing Registry
- For a room in shared housing, do not select number of bedrooms and bathrooms, just “room in shared housing” and if it has a private bathroom.
- The address won’t show online unless you check the display address box. You can list the neighborhood or nearby intersection with the General Location box.
Confidentiality
All personal information is only used for posting your rental property. The Community Rentals Office (CRO) will not sell or share any information you have provided to any entity outside of the UCSC purview. Once a year, we send out pertinent information, such as updates in tenant-landlord civil codes, to help you manage your postings.
Forms and Resources
We have an extensive list of rental agreements and household management forms, information on tenant laws in Santa Cruz and California available to renters and property providers. You can find them on our Forms, Laws, and Rental Agreements page.
