Family Student Housing Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a registered student at UCSC
  • Or have a processed UCSC application for academic admission
  • Or currently be on an official Leave of Absence from UCSC
  • Maintain a UCSC affiliation for the duration of the waiting period
  • Students must reside with at least one eligible family member on a permanent, full-time basis. Eligible family members are defined as:
    • Children (the main contract holder has physical custody of at least 50% of time)
    • A mutually-dependant relationship with a family member such as a parent, sister, brother, cousin, aunt, uncle or grandparent.
    • A mutually dependant, committed relationship with an adult partner

In order to maintain an active status on the Family Student Housing (FSH) wait list, applicants must:

  • Respond to biannual wait list update requests
  • Promptly report changes in contact information to the FSH Office at (831) 459-4080

Eligibility requirements to reside at FSH are as follows:

  • Contract holders must be enrolled in a minimum of 10 credits during the Fall, Winter and Spring quarters, exceptions are made for Summer Session.
  • Concurrent enrollment does not meet Family Student Housing eligibility requirements.
  • All occupants must be listed on the contract and must verify the FSH apartment as their primary residence

Roommates are prohibited at FSH.

Documentation of eligibility is required upon request of the FSH Office.
