University Inn

The University Inn, located on Ocean Street in Santa Cruz, features all the benefits of university housing with the convenience and amenities of a hotel. Continuing, transfer, re-entry, and graduate students are eligible to live at the University Inn.

Living at the Inn provides an excellent combination of university residential community living and an off campus experience.

The lounge spaces at the University Inn offers places to watch TV, study, or hang out with other students. Students can use the equipment in the fitness center for strength training and stress relief. And, downtown Santa Cruz is located just a short walk away through adjacent San Lorenzo Park.

Staff and Programming
The Inn has a live-in manager and student staff to assist residents with emergencies and day-to-day residential issues. The hotel desk staff is available to assist students 24 hours a day.

Transportation

• Buses to campus leave frequently from the downtown Metro Center, located a short walk from the Inn. Map
• Parking spaces will be available for some, but not all, Inn residents. A lottery will be held for the spaces, and a fee is charged.
• Parking in Santa Cruz is limited. City parking garages and lots provide parking with monthly fees.
• A locked bicycle storage area (access by your room key card) is available for residents. In addition, bike lockers are available from the city for a nominal fee. Bikes may not be stored in rooms.
• Downtown bike shuttle service to UC Santa Cruz

Dining
Students living at the University Inn are required to choose one of the following meal plans: 7-Day, 5-Day or 75 Plan. These meal plans can be used at the Inn, as well as in the on-campus dining halls. Flexi Dollars can also be used in the dining halls (on campus and at the Inn) and campus coffee shops.

Communication
All rooms at the University Inn are equipped with ethernet ports to connect to the UCSC campus Residential Network.

• Phones are provided in the rooms. Residents will pay a flat monthly rate for local service provided by the Inn. Students must use calling cards to make long distance phone calls.
