Transfer Community at Porter

The Transfer Community, located in Porter College residence halls and situated on campus to provide easy access to Services for Transfer and Re-Entry Students (STARS) and the Academic Resource Center (ARC), is a housing option for incoming transfer students (regardless of college affiliation). Transfer Community students will benefit from an academically and socially supportive environment offering special programs designed to help them transition to campus life, build a strong connection with the campus, and get the most out of their UCSC experience.

There are many great reasons for transfer students to live in the Transfer Community—among them community and convenience.

University housing for transfer students is also available at The Village and the University Town Center.

A community of other transfer students making similar transitions to UCSC. A living/learning environment of students with diverse academic ambitions and interests. The opportunity to enhance educational experiences by participating in community activities like film series, faculty speakers, open mic events, and much more. Interaction with staff and faculty who can provide invaluable personal and career guidance, and leadership opportunities.	A two-year housing guarantee is offered to all new transfer students. The comfort of knowing your housing is reserved for the upcoming academic year. Amenities (meals, furnishings, Internet, etc.) and easy access to campus resources like the bookstore, libraries, and health center; restaurants and cafés; and recreational/athletic facilities. Furnished room with meal plan included, and access to the recently renovated Porter/Kresge Dining Hall.
